Village Board Meeting
October 11, 2017
Present: Mayor Keville, Trustee Bough Martin, Trustee Horning, Trustee Kopp, Mr. Kopp, Mrs. Doss
Absent: Trustee Baldwin
The Mayor called the Board meeting to order at 3:30 p.m.
The Mayor advised that he has received an invitation to attend a NYCOM legislative committee meeting on November 13 at the Hilton in Albany. He is unable to attend the meeting. He asked if anyone from the Village wanted to attend. Trustee Horning and Trustee Bough Martin expressed interest in attending.
NY Urban Forestry Council Meeting
The Mayor advised that he had received an invitation to attend a training program on November 8, 2017 at Finger Lakes Community College from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for proper pruning and chain saw techniques. He inquired if the Board saw interest in having someone from the Village attend. The Board will check to see if Nelson Smith from the DPW is interested or if someone from their Department would want to attend.
Census Bureau Reporting Request
The Mayor reported he had received a request from the Census Bureau for the 2020 Census. The request is for reviewing the addresses in the Village and indicates the time needed to complete could take up to 21 hours. The Mayor asked if the Board wanted to pursue this request. The Board agreed that it was worth completing the survey.
The Board members reviewed the unpaid Village taxes list for 2017-18, which is scheduled to be submitted to Madison County. The unpaid base amount is $52,531.67, 8% penalty $4,202.53 and $118 for second notice fee, making a total to Madison County of $56,852.20. Upon the motion made by Trustee Horning, seconded by Trustee Kopp, the Board approves the unpaid village taxes to be submitted to the County in the amount of $56,852.20, which represents penalty and second notice fee. All members present voting in favor.
The Board briefly discussed the harboring hens law.
With no further business, meeting adjourned at 4:05 p.m. upon the motion made by Trustee Kopp, seconded by Trustee Bough Martin. All members present voting in favor.
